News Literacy

News literacy is a set of "...critical thinking skills needed to judge the reliability and credibility of information, whether it comes via print, television or the Internet." These skills are developed "primarily by analyzing news as well as new forms of information that are often mistaken for journalism." (from SUNY Stony Brook's Center for News Literacy)

This guide is intended to provide faculty with news literacy information and resources that may be useful for classroom instruction, and to facilitate ongoing conversations about the roles of research and accuracy in news media reporting.
