Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will the library have a temporary location during the two-year renovation process?
A: Yes, the temporary library space and services will be located in the C/D Atrium, beginning in Summer 2024. 


Q: Will I be able to access the library’s old E-Wing space at all during the renovation?
A: No, the E-Wing library space will be closed for the entire length of the renovation, beginning in May 2024.


Q: How long will the renovation take?
A: The renovation should take about two years to complete, with the library reopening in Fall 2026. Be sure to check back to the website for updates.


Q: Will study rooms be available during the renovation? 
A: The University will provide additional seating and tables throughout campus to make up for library study rooms being unavailable.


Q: Will there be computers to use in the temporary library space, like there are now in the library?
A: There will be computers and tables in the temporary library space in C/D Atrium. More PCs may be added in various campus locations.


Q: Will books be available to borrow during the renovation?
A: Yes, a collection of books, stored in C-Wing, will be available to check out. 


Q: Will we still be able to use Special Collections during the renovation?
A: Yes, Special Collections will be housed in a classroom in C-Wing.


Q: Where will I go to pick up books requested through interlibrary loan?
A: Interlibrary loan books and materials will be picked up in C/D Atrium at the temporary library space.


Q: Will the renovated library still have books? Or will everything be electronic?
A: The renovated library will still have a large collection of physical books, along with electronic books (eBooks).


Q: Will we still be able to get research help during the renovation? Sometimes I go to the Information Desk in the library or pop in to ask the librarians a question. 
A: The temporary library space in C/D Atrium will still have an Information Desk. The librarians will have temporary offices in various locations on campus. This guide will be updated with the new office locations once they are in place.
